This has been around before a few years ago......don't remember the details, but I believe that there is some truth to this story, although the threads on the link indicate it was in Canada.

I was fishing for grayling once in Saskatchewan and had a hooked grayling taken by a large pike that held onto the fish....I was using a 3 wt flyrod with a 5X tippet that snapped, but if it were heavier tackle? It was not in the class of that fish, but it was in the 40" range.

I believe the all-tackle record is from NY at 49 pounds caught many, many years ago if my memory is correct.

I actually think I remeber some one posted this on this site a very long time ago, I mean when the site was in its old format. I am pretty sure it is legit but from Canada I think it appeared on other sites too but who knows.

I have been seeing this picture for several years now. I read that this pike was not caught in north America but somewhere in Europe. I know that it was not caught recently and not in NY.

Here is another vid that has been around on the "Waterwolf" attacking a fisherman from Norway.
