Bass & Blues Today

We started the day looking for some bass. We read plenty of stripers, but, they did not want to bite so we headed to where the blues were yesterday. On our first drift we had a good shot when we stopped, and picked at the 6 to 12LB blues for awhile. We made several more drifts but fishing slowed down as the day went on.

It was starting to get choppy, but not that bad, so rather than head in, we went back to where we saw the Stripers in the morning, and it was a good move.
As we were heading for a school of bunker we ran over two giant schools of bass. We lost a few and caught several up to 35LBS. We made another move, read another school and stopped. As we drifted the bass came to the surface chasing bunker and a number were hooked.
We caught bass on Crocodile lures, A-47 jigs and a few on live bunker. We lost a number of the jumbo bass and wound up with 18+ Stripers up to 41.5LBS.

The pool winner was:
John Scott from Phila PA with a 41.5LB Striped Bass.
Recent pool winners:
Darshan Patel from East Brunswick NJ with an 11LB bluefish,
Nicholas Maszera from Millstone NJ with a 12LB bluefish.

This Bass run is not over yet. Last year some of the best fishing was through the first two weeks of June.

We will continue to look for Striped Bass every day and bluefish.
Night bluefishing has been very good. The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail every night at 7:30PM (weather permitting).

Great job sticking it out and finding the bass while others went home early Howard. That's the work ethic your customers appreciate. Wish I was there.
