Default pike and bass

Had an old Army buddy visit for a few days, we hit 5 different lakes in 7 days.
we were fishing for crappies at pompton lake, but my second cast was slammed ! I went to set the hook and nothing was there, reeled it in and just as i suspected the line was cut! i knew it was a pike, attached a steel leader and fished for about 20 minutes trying to get him with an ultra light and 4lb test (was planning on nothing but crappies)
the pike slammed it again! i set the hook and the pike made a run for structure! then he came right back at the boat where he almost cut the line on the motor! i never thought i was gonna get him in on that ultra light, but boy is it a fun fight!. thank goodness for my buddy who netted him for me! ended up being 27 inches. also caught a few Lm's. and only 1 crappie. great day!

I love Pompton. By far one of the better sleeper lakes in the state for sure.

I've tossed every lure in the sun into that tree in the Pike picture and never hit a thing

Great fish man.
