I have a Saragosa 8000SW that I bought for tarpon fishing in Florida this May and even that is a big reel. The smaller 5000 or 6000 is still a good-sized reel and they're sweet reels, well-built, powerful and smooth.

If you've never used a conventional and are only going to be fishing inshore, I would definitely consider starting off with a star drag instead of a lever drag.
