Most Memorable Fish of 2013?????

As I sit here with nothing but wishing I was fishing, I thought that this might be an interesting and fun thread...........................................
Doesn't have to be the biggest, it can be the one that got away, or the most exciting or hardest to land, even the nicest looking one! What was yours????

Well since I started it I'll go first, Mine was my personal best Hybrid that I caught on Labor day this year. On a cloudy miserable raining day on Spruce, teaming up with Flatcreek and DRiverRat in Phil's boat. We often fish together and ALWAYS have a great time! We split up and search for the fish and then when one of us finds them we tag team them and it seems to work pretty well for us! Well anyway that day as wet as we were the fish were on the chew big time as both boats had several fish already and we were working an area and all of the sudden the release pops and fish on!!!!! I knew right off the bat this was a good one cause she was smoking the line off my reel! I grabbed the rod and battled this fish for a long time! (SEEMED LIKE FOREVER!) this was one of those that you just keep saying PLEASE LET ME LAND THIS FISH!!!!!! This fish was way out because I run usually 75-80ft feet back and then it made several long blistering runs during the fight!!!! So as she's getting close to the boat she rolls on her side and I loose my mind !!! This was a huge fish, very long and thick!!! Finally as I slid the net under it I screamed for Joy!!! I wish I had better pics of her but it was pouring and I didn't want to ruin my camera! Best one for me ever!!!! Eight pounds and two ounces!!!!!
What was yours???????

Dale, I don't know if there was that much whooping and hollering on any other catch you made this year, congrats.
I think the "D" in my handle would've definitely stood for Drowned by the end of that day. We were definitely soggy bottomed, along with everything else.
We'll get together soon, I'm sure

Re: Most Memorable Fish of 2013?????

Yea that's for sure I guess second most would be the day we fished all day and I didn't have one till the evening and got the DOUBLE to end the day!!!
GOOD TIMES!!!
Got a pair of waterbugz this year too! Now I can run four, two down and two out.
HYBRIDS BEWARE OF THAT BLUE BOAT!!!!!!!

Re: Most Memorable Fish of 2013?????

All in all, 2013 was a very memorable year fishing wise for me. The obvious choices would be:
-Passaic River Walleye
-45" Muskie at night on Hopatcong
-27.5" Hybrid Striper at night from the kayak in the middle of a Hybrid Blitz

My "Best of 2013"...

I think the most memorable fish are the ones other people catch when there fishing on the Flatcreek Ferry. One of the best nights was with George (Wilson) seeing him catch his first Hybrid. I owed him that one, good people, great night ,some good fish and some great pictures. There is also Dale, Tommy, Russ, my grandson, my nephew and many more to come I hope. ( lets see them pics again George)

Dale I remember you catching that fish and that day will be etched in my memory for a long time. SOGGY BOTTOM BOYS!!!!!

Re: Most Memorable Fish of 2013?????

Most memorable for me was my first ever Pike...caught it on Budd Lake..I was fishing with Mitch (iceehot) and we were in the 400th hour of a 500 hour day with no fish between us...I think Mitch actually had caught a smallie but by this time it really felt like we never caught a fish in our lives it had been so long. But persistence and switching baits up (something Mitch taught me by example that day) until we got something finally paid off for me. Got it on a Fire Tiger crank bait in about 5 - 7 feet of water. It was an awesome day for me at that point. Can't wait to do it again in 2014.

my 30lb carp for sure. Was the first day I ever fished for carp and with the help of saxmatt it was one hell of a success!

Next best would be my first Passaic pike, also the first I caught on a lure. I had been skunked the first 4-5 times I tried on the Passaic and finally got one this fall. I was happy as hell

I gotta go with this whole scene while fishing with Skunk, Barry and Eddie
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h.../bassperch.jpghttp://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...perchmouth.jpg
I was tossing a small swim shad and hooked a perch around 6". While reeling it in something swipes, misses, then comes back and mauls the perch. Somehow i pinned both fish on the one hook. I'll never forget it.

Great catches all! Here's mine.........

First is my pb Pike. Great fish, better story, lol. Drove up to the shed for a day of bassin with my brother. Get to the lake only to realize that by rushing to leave, I forgot a very important piece of equipment, my trolling motor BATTERY!!! Shot home, grabbed the battery and hit the river instead.

Then, fished past a down tree with no hits and kept moving. My brother hooks up with a decent pike, and in the process of CPR, we floated back down to the same tree. One more cast and CHOMP!!! Fought like a champ including a couple nice jumps. Funny thing is, I think I hooked up with him again later in the season and he got the better of me that time with a big head shake that sent the lure flying back at me!! I'll be lookin for him again sometime in 2014..........

Next was my "unofficial" start to the 2013 season. Wasn't the first fish I caught, but the first good one that really kicked it off......

This fish here is my first Tiger @ 43"......she jumped about 2ft out of the water....it'll be hard to forget. Caught in PA waters.

This fish here is my PB Landlocked Striper 41"ish caught in PA waters.
http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...psb5ed63d7.png

This is a doulbeheader landlocks I landed by myself 36" and 32"ish adrenaline was pumping hardcore. Caught in PA waters.
http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...psd00553b3.png

This fish was also a the 2nd part of a double @ 39" wish I had a better pic. Caught in PA waters.http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...ps166969e7.jpg

I had a ridiculously good Sept and Oct. but these fish were caught in PA....so i don't post them here. I had at least 8 hybrids in the 8 to 12lb class this being one of them.
http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...ps899b91df.jpg

I also had a decent season at spruce run and made some new fishin buddies thanks to this site.
http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8037b521.jpg

I gotta say there's some great fishermen on this site......some serious lunkers being caught, of all species. Some real hardcore fishing going on and I love that sh!t.

Sick pics so far... Jesus lol... My most memorable would have to be:

1.) Toad LMB a few days before my daughter was born
2.) First Spruce hybrids with bicey & GetANet
3.) First Hopatcong hybrid aboard GetANet @ meet-n-greet
4.) One of 9 bluefins caught on my dad's boat during a half day trolling session; my friend Steve's first tuna experience (spoiled much?)
5.) April t-storm stripers on the beach--15 lb'er
6.) My lil keeper!

And certainly not to be left out... the quality people I've met from this site thus far. I've certainly learned a lot and have broadened my horizons on new species and techniques. Looking forward to a fruitful 2014! Catch 'em up fellas!

Well, it was no monster fish like all the previous posts but I won't forget the fish that won me the title of Grand Master Champion of the 2013 NJFishing.com Bass Battle.

...OK, so I glorified it a bit, but let me live in my own little world. ☺☺:)

I've been wanting to go Pike fishing in the Passaic River for many years but never seemed to get around to it. After talking about for so long the time finally came to get out there and try my luck. I think I did pretty good for my first year of Pike fishing. Top was caught in the Pompton River and bottom in the Passaic River. It's safe to say I will be back.

Fish was measured at 14.5", caught from the P River a few weeks ago. I didn't think the picture did it any justice!

My three most memorable fish of 2013 #1. is a small mouth from Spruce Run Creek Memorable because I was targeting trout and caught it on an ultra-light trout rod. #2 Brown trout caught in Coopalong Creek, a stream that is not stocked with brown trout. [ That was the second brown that I caught in that location last spring.] and #3 not a freshwater fish but a 163 pound halibut, the largest fish I have ever caught.

Did a fair amount of freshwater this year and had a blast. Its great to be able to get out for a couple hours after work in the summer. This bass was one of many it was my PB LMB. Didn't get a weight on it but it was a blast. Hoping to up the ante this spring.

We took our 1st family trip together to the poconos this fall and I re-discovered freshwater fishing. Turns out my wife loves catching sunnies and small perch(bait fishing for me basically). My son loves sitting in his stroller and watching and playing with them then waving bye bye, he is still too small to do it on his own, but really soon. The pickerel was caught using a perch my wife caught, then released. I wouldn’t let my son put his finger near this one. i got a kayak this winter and cant wait to get out on the passaic and raritan bay. tight lines to all!
